There’s a new Spiderman movie
coming out this week, and all sorts of video games are being released
to help promote the film, which arrives in the US this Friday. While Xbox One and Android
have some pretty awesome looking games that are available now, it seems
as though BlackBerry is a little late to the game. Not completely
late, however, as Gameloft recently released Spider-Man: Ultimate Power
for legacy BlackBerry devices.
Spider-Man: Ultimate Power is a classic runner game that has the Green Goblin, Sandman, and Venom team up and kidnap Mary Jane. It’s up to your friendly neighborhood Spiderman to run across the street and rooftops of New York and save the love of his life before it’s too late!
The game is free, and based on the description in BlackBerry World, it looks like it may have in app purchase. Head on over there to get the game and try it out yourself.

The T-Mobile versus BlackBerry spat continues. Originally, T-Mobile targeted BlackBerry users with a promotion to switch to the iPhone 5S.
After back and forth between T-Mobile and BlackBerry CEOs, BlackBerry announced it was cutting ties with the magenta carrier.
T-Mobile is now targeting its BlackBerry customers again with a promotion to get them to switch to a Samsung. If you are due for an upgrade, T-Mobile will give BlackBerry customers $200 to upgrade towards a Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy S5 or Galaxy Light.
Though, emphasis on ‘due for an upgrade.’ Not just any BlackBerry customer can make the switch, you must be eligible for the upgrade. Nevertheless, should T-Mobile continue targeting its own customers with device switch promos?

BlackBerry 10.3 recently leaked, giving us a look at the upcoming iteration of BlackBerry 10. From the very early beta, we’ve seen BlackBerry is giving BB10 a flatter UI, red accents throughout the UI, and a few new features.
BlackBerry fans were torn between the red accents instead of BlackBerry 10′s classic cyan. Rumors claimed BlackBerry was simply testing the color swap, but swiftly returned to cyan.
Now, to add fuel to the fire, we’ve received what is claimed to be a press render of BlackBerry 10.3. You’ll notice the red accent is still present.
Additionally, the alleged press render shows an integrated Voice Control. We haven’t confirmed if the press render shows a revamped address book or if this is part of the new Personal Assistant feature coming to BlackBerry 10.3.
Nonetheless, it appears if you ask to search a contact it populates the results within the Voice Control, versus opening your contacts app and showing relevant results.
For now, take this with a grain of salt until we receive more confirmation from the source. But, let us know in the comments if you’d like the red accents in the UI instead of cyan.

Richard Fox-Ivey let us know about his Waterloo-based start-up, Symple ID, that’s developing a BlackBerry 10 NFC-based solution that let’s you use your BlackBerry as the key to logging into websites on your laptop.
Symple ID needs some help from #TeamBlackBerry! They’re running a Kickstarter campaign right now to help fund the development effort. How will Symple ID work? Their Kickstarter says:
With Symple ID you get a personal NFC ID tag, the Symple ID app for your smartphone, the Symple ID browser extension to pair your laptop/desktop, and use of Symple ID’s secure login servers.
Key Features
- Dead easy to use; just tap to sign-in
- Secure; encrypts and stores your passwords securely on your phone; nothing is stored on our servers nor on your laptop/desktop
- Helps protect you against a lost or stolen phone; your passwords are encrypted
- Two-factor authentication protects your accounts; you need your phone + your NFC ID to login
- Protects against phishing attacks by validating the site you are visiting before supplying your credentials
- Compatible with Macs and Windows PCs
Using Symple ID
As you surf the web on your PC, Symple ID automatically detects logins. Whenever you fill-in a login on your PC Symple ID automatically sends them through a secure server to your smartphone and encrypts them using your unique NFC ID.The next time you visit a stored site or application, Symple ID will prompt you to “tap to sign-in”.
Symple ID looks to be a very unique and seamless way of securely managing your passwords online. If you’d like to see it come to BlackBerry 10, help Symple ID meet their funding threshold of $20,000 CAD.

BlackBerry CEO John Chen has been a busy man since taking over the reigns at the company. He’s been traveling all over the world in an attempt to talk to different big time BlackBerry customers and share the company’s vision for the future. Next week, Chen will making a stop in Indonesia for the launch of the new BlackBerry Z3. This launch, which we had all been wondering when it would take place, was shared by Chen in an interview with TheRecord.
The Z3, the first device BlackBerry will release in 2014, will clue us in as to whether the company can successfully market and sell a low-end BlackBerry 10 smartphone in a targeted area – something that is key for its survival moving forward.
While Chen didn’t specify the exact day the Z3 will launch, we’re expecting BlackBerry to announce it sometime this week.
BlackBerry has also yet to confirm the Z3′s internal specs, which has definitely raised some red flags. While there is some evidence that it could sport a 720p display, we did see some alleged leaked specs before the device was even announced, which pointed to much more disappointing internals. Either way, the mystery remains for now, so hopefully that gets cleared up sooner rather than later as well.
